What is Fitness… And Why You Should Do It!

What is fitness? Is it losing twenty pounds? Is it going to the gym every day? Is it eating 1,500 to 2,000 calories a day? Is it finally getting that flat tummy – maybe some abs to go with it as well?

For a lot of people, all those mentioned above is fitness. So they toil day and night, trying to achieve their idea of being fit. It’s a bit different for those who actually succeed in doing it. For those who actually do, fitness is a lifestyle.

Let us expound further.

So many people work out hard because they want to look like their favorite celebrity. There are some who want to lose more weight and look better than that person they saw in the gym. Basically, more people out there answer the ‘What is fitness?’ question because of aesthetic reasons.

There is nothing wrong with looking good, true. But you will succeed even more with your fitness goals if you do this for better reasons. Below are just some:

Stronger Body – Get to Accomplish More

Have you ever felt weak at 10 AM? You’ve been at work for just two or three hours but you feel like you don’t have the energy to do five to six more. You’re not alone. A lot of people experience this. And this lethargy could come from lack of activity.

Remember, exercise can strengthen your bones and muscles. That strength is what you need to be able to do more.

Working out, even those five to ten-minute high intensity training sessions in the morning – could actually give you that sudden boost of vigor which you need so that you can accomplish more for the day.

Reduces the Risk for Diseases

Exercise keeps your blood pressure and cholesterol at the right levels, preventing various diseases which may come with its increase such as Primary Hypertension, a bevy of Cardiac Disease and so many more. According to some researchers, even Diabetes Type II and various kinds of Cancers can be averted with exercise.

Improving Mood

Exercise increases endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. As we have seen this on Legally Blonde and even felt it when we ran for a few kilometers or sweated after ten minutes of high intensity training, need we expound on that anymore?

You’ll Feel Better

Looking good is a plus point of losing weight and becoming fit. There is no doubt about that. But the best thing about achieving your fitness goals is that you will feel ultimately better about yourself. You can wear clothes that you want – clothes that will fit you. You can do more at work and even at play because you have the energy for it. And you will feel more confident dealing with other people because you feel great about yourself.
